Silenia Gil Rhoads
Silenia Gil Rhoads is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Family & Systemic Constellations Facilitator and Focalizing Practitioner. Her belief is that the answers are already within us. That with guidance, we can get back to our inner knowing, heal from past trauma and wounds, and feel whole again. Things that are consistently on her mind at this stage of her life are the feeling of belonging, community and culture, connection (and disconnection) to land and the natural world, parenting and being parented, authentic communication, storytelling and writing.
Silenia is based in the Philadelphia area of the United States. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela from a Venezuelan mother and Spanish father. Silenia immigrated to the United States at 6 years old and has lived in London, New York, North Carolina, the Dominican Republic, Seattle, and Philadelphia. Her extended family now resides in Venezuela, Spain, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, France, and the United States. There has been much movement in land and cultures, but they remain closely-knit, thanks to the lessons of their ancestors, and technology.
Silenia first began working with Family & Systemic Constellations for her own personal and generational healing. She decided to become a facilitator through the European Institute for Systemic Education and Coaching, with Cecilia Altieri. Soon after, Silenia came across Focalizing, a somatic embodiment practice that brings connection to the inner-knowing we carry in our body. Silenia became a certified practitioner via the Focalizing Institute with Nick Werber and Joanna Miller.
Silenia holds a B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University and a Masters in Education, Public Health from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is trained as a Yoga teacher, studied Reiki and has worked in health, wellness and education for over 30 years, with some beautiful pauses to birth and raise three children and to open a bakery cafe with her husband John.
What are Family Constellations?
Family Constellations is a therapeutic approach that explores the dynamics and relationships within families, communities, workplaces or other groups. It is based on the belief that unresolved traumas, patterns, and conflicts in family systems can impact individuals' lives across generations.
In a Family Constellation session, participants represent family members or significant elements of a person's life. This representation allows for a visual and experiential understanding of the underlying emotional and relational dynamics that may be influencing the individual’s issues. Through this process, hidden patterns and connections can be revealed, providing insights into unresolved conflicts and offering pathways to healing.
The aim of Family Constellations is to bring light to these dynamics, fostering awareness and acceptance, which can lead to emotional release and shifts in perspective. Participants often report feelings of relief, clarity, and a renewed sense of connection to their families after the experience. Overall, Family Constellations offers a unique approach to personal healing and understanding by examining the intricate web of family relationships.
What is Focalizing?
Focalizing is a somatic practice that invites individuals to connect deeply with their bodily sensations and emotional experiences. It operates on the premise that the body holds valuable insights and memories, often unconscious, that can illuminate personal challenges and foster healing.
Through Focalizing, participants learn to focus on specific areas of tension or discomfort in their bodies. This process involves gently attending to these sensations, allowing them to surface without judgment. The practice encourages individuals to explore their emotional responses and thoughts tied to these physical sensations, offering a pathway to greater self-awareness and understanding.
Focalizing is often used in therapeutic settings to help individuals process trauma, grief, and unresolved issues. By cultivating a mindful connection with the body, participants can release stored emotions and foster a sense of empowerment and well-being. This approach emphasizes self-compassion, encouraging individuals to accept and embrace their feelings as part of their healing journey.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
